Yesterday afternoon, we had the pleasure and honor to meet a special friend of Anorthosis, in Melathron of EOKA. Our eighteen-years-old fan, Yiannis Neophytou, is recovering from a severe car accident and is there for treatment and rehabilitation. He confessed to his physiotherapist and trainer in our Limassol Academies, Dimitris Socratous, that he would like to meet from up close some of our players.
Our leader, Christos Marangos, Jason Demetriou and Gio Aburjania, accompanied by the assistant coach Simos Tarapoulouzis responded with joy and eagerness to Yianni’s request, surprising him in the living room of Melathron.
The joy was all ours. We soon realized that Yiannis is a special kind of person. A true fighter who, despite the difficulties and problems, refuses to give up. The tedious treatments wont put his moral down. He is confident that he will overcome all his problems and remains focus to his target: to play tennis again. A sport that – as he said – taught him self-discipline, a necessary weapon at this phase of his life. Yiannis, faces with a remarkable sense of humor the state of his health and is highly optimistic that very soon all these will be just a memory.
We know that Yiannis is such a lover of Anorthosis, not to lose a game, since elementary school, up to last year. So, we ‘ve decided to keep a place for him in the West terrace and handed over a season ticket, promising to welcome him when he will be in place to come to the stadium again.
The truth is, that Yiannis is very demanding, since he compromises with nothing less than the victory in every match. Our players, promised to give everything every week, in every game, in any field for the win.
On the other hand Yiannis, we also demanding. We want you to promise that you will put your best every day, in any one of the battles you give, always wearing that nice smile on your face and your optimistic spirit.
