Refugees for forty years

Σαράντα χρόνια προσφυγιάς

The sirens sounded again, to wake up the memories of 1974 to those who lived the invasion and to make others to look, search, learn.

Forty years today by the barbaric turkish invasion. Since the hordes of Attila scorched the northern part of Cyprus, uprooting 200,000 Cypriots. An operation, which was completed a month later.

Four decades of indifference and hypocrisy of the international community which simply monitors remotely the continued illegal occupation of our country.

Anorthosis Famagusta, pays tribute to those who were killed during the operations of the invasion but also to those who were captured and are still missing. Highest value appropriate to the contemporary Leonidas in Karpasia, who insist on guarding the Thermopyles of Hellenism, enduring the Turkish occupation within their homes and their lives.

Respect, to all those people who found themselves having nothing in possession in the summer of ’74, but survived, struggled and finally managed to get on their feet.

They all have their suitcase ready to go back, waiting for the signal. The day is coming.

Until then, the debt imposed to us, is the incarnation of the slogan “Do not Forget and Struggle”.
